Dick Jennings aka DJ Power
I was born and raised in Braintree, MA just 15 miles south of Boston. I spent 9 years in the US Marine Corps with 2 years (64-66) in Vietnam, this was prior to the United States entering the conflict with the North Vietnamese in 1965. The Marines sent me on TDY (temporary duty) with the CIA and I was part of a special unit that infiltrated the North all the way to the Chinese border. After the Marines, I went to work for American Airlines as a reservation agent and retired 25 years later as the Western Division Director of Special Services. After a few years of semi- retirement, I went to work for the Sheraton Grand Hotel in Irving, Texas as the Resident Manager. I spent 6 years in TX and decided to retire for good and returned to California. I joined the Marine Corps League here in Simi Valley, California. I rose through the ranks and became Detachment Commandant. A year and a half later, I was elected to be Commandant for the State of California. I am now the Division Adjutant for the Southwest Division of the Marine Corps League. I am married to a wonderful lady for going on 53 years. We have 3 sons (my middle son was killed in a car accident) and we have 4 fantastic grandchildren.

Book
This is the 3rd book of a trilogy, and we find Jim Coleman in a body bag and declared dead from a severe head wound he got on his last mission. He has no idea where he is or what happened when boarding the rescue helicopter. He starts to move around, and a Catholic chaplain sees the bag move and he gets a doctor to investigate. Hearing a slight heartbeat, Jim is rushed back to the hospital and emergency surgery. He goes through 2 surgeries within 4 days, and he is pronounced in stable condition to be moved to a better facility back in Hawaii. Only one problem exists, his CIA handler, Commander Forrest Damon of the US Navy has other ideas. Being that there is absolutely no record of Jim being in the Marine Corps or any other branch of any service, Damon wants him moved to a facility he prefers. Finally, it is determined that Jim will be transferred to Tripler Army Hospital in Hawaii. On the way there, Jim is on a small hospital plane, it is discovered that he has a huge hole in his back that nobody seems to bother to check. After everything is settled with his body, Jim goes through rehabilitation and physical therapy. A Navy nurse, Lt. Commander Veronica White, has assigned herself to take care of Jim while he’s at the hospital. Ronnie is falling in love with him, but Jim is oblivious to this because he’s “sort of” engaged to a high school senior back home in Boston. This romance comes to a head when Ronnie gives him an ultimatum: “Me or the high school child.” Jim says he can’t do anything until he writes to Linda to break it off. Not good enough for the Lt. Commander, she leaves in the middle of the night for her new duty station in Maryland. Distraught, Jim finally gets orders to go back to Vietnam and probably the most dangerous mission he will participate in.
He and his unit, along with 2 others are to go to the edge of North Vietnam and mainland China to capture a Chinese Colonel who has been a supplier of weapons to the NVA and Viet Cong. Jim has been experiencing excruciating headaches and loss of sight ever since he returned from Hawaii, but he has kept it a secret. After capturing the Colonel, Jim and his unit is being chased by an elite squad of NVA soldiers. Jim and his unit are to meet up with the other 2 units about 50 miles from where they took the Colonel. Stopping for a sleep break, Jim loses his eyesight, and he can’t move. Not wanting this mission to be a failure, he decides to stay back with his Montagnard scout until his vision returns. Jim and his scout stay in a cave they found for 3 days until his eyesight returns. On leaving to catch up with his unit, they are about ½ of a mile ahead of the NVA unit and they must shoot it out with them.
Finally, he reaches the other 2 units, and the NVA retreats, and they deliver the Colonel to the South Vietnamese. After a month of just sitting around and waiting for his next assignment, Jim is pulled and prodded by several doctors in Danang. Thinking he has been cleared for duty, Jim gets involved with the next assignment that has all the units going to investigate a prison in North Vietnam known as the “Hanoi Hilton.” But when it’s time to muster and get on the helicopters, Jim is informed that the doctors have determined that he is no longer fit for duty. Jim is distraught but Commander Damon has derived a scenario that he will go home for a 30-day leave and then he will be assigned to the Naval Hospital in Maryland for evaluation and physical therapy to get him back to where he was when he joined the Marines. It is the same hospital that now Captain Veronica White oversees all recuperation Naval personnel returning from the war.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of typeand scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
